so everyone agrees that TRUTH is the most perfect genius song ever written for a drama in the history of dramas having songs written for them right? i thought it was so perfect, you don't have to do anything to it to make it sound any better.

then the full version comes out, and my love for the song just grew exponentially. i mean the pre-chorus was already pretty amazing in the short version. it was just so clever how the lines and the melodies were overlapping and chasing each other and intertwining. kind of like a metaphor for how ohno's and toma's characters are in the drama. but man that second pre-chorus in the longer version is nothing short of an aural orgasm. the way the percussions just faded out and it was all just voices and piano and strings and some subtle industrial elements? gaaaah it's fucking awesome.

(sorry. this post has turned into what a typical conversation with my bandmates would sound like. only i would never talk to them about TRUTH cause they are stupid boys who don't know jack squat about arashi.)

frankly, i've never raved over an arashi song this much. i mean their songs never fail to get me off my ass and dance (hello step and go, carnival night, eyes with delight, itsuka no summer, kitto daijoubu, i could go on and on and on..) but this is the first time an arashi song has moved me to dissect the technical shit. so i was thinking: good job guys. this is the single most technically-complicated piece of musical genius you've ever recorded. and nothing can ever make me love this song more.

but then i see this on youtube.

and let me just tell you. the only thing that beats a perfect genius song is some genius japanese kid who plays it PERFECTLY on a fucking piano and posts it on youtube the day after she first hears it on tv.

why am i not this good, God? i am so jealous and i feel like a crap musician. haha.

you should check out all of her videos. i think she has piano versions of one love, sirius, and himitsu on her youtube site and they're all fucking perfect. ugh.

This is probably too late for you, but I felt like I needed to comment here. :P LOL.

Anyway, I'm glad someone thinks of it in that way. I've never read or heard anyone talk about Truth this way. I actually agree with what you've said, especially the overlapping singing part. It was really too awesome for words.

And during these times, I have to give Aiba a deserved praise because his voice suited this song BIG TIME. *____* You've always heard him in such cute songs, but angsty songs work for his voice too.

It wasn't what you would expect from Arashi too, so this will go down in history (mine at least) as the most impressive song I've heard from such a group.

OMG I TOTALLY AGREE.

Aiba's voice!!!! so yummy.. and it totally stood out from the other members' voices. which was fine by me cause i love the airiness. and ohno is perfect as always.

honestly, those two are the best singers in the group for me. ohno is self-explanatory. but i choose aiba over nino because even if aiba has a strange quality to his voice that you wouldn't really consider awesome singer-type timbre, he is always in tune. nino sometimes tends do overdo his vibrato and let's be honest, sintunado sya minsan, sorry nino. i do this because i love you.

and sorry jaden. for the music term vomit. i get overexcited when talking about musical technicalities. as is apparent in the length of this post. and this reply. sorry. ^^V

Yeah, the breathy characteristic of Aiba's voice is unique. :D It might sound like he's squeaking when talking *gets bricked* but when he's singing, it's so effin' awesome.

Odd, I've never heard that opinion before. I mean for me, my ranking goes like Ohno, Nino and then Aiba. Baka dahil lang yun sa vibrato ni Nino, which I find quite good honestly. Pero you've been in a band and you have a music experience, so your opinion is far more believable than mine. I sometimes even have trouble telling flat and normal apart. LOL.

Haha. It's okay. ^__^b When it's all about singing and voices I'm quite the analytic one too. I'm always searching for something in someone's voice when singing. XD

i know. people usually prefer nino's voice over aiba's. and don't get me wrong. nino is a great singer. he has that singer-type timbre i was talking about before that aiba didn't have. and if i only listened to their records, i would agree that nino is better than aiba. only i have heard some of nino's live performances where he is sometimes out of tune. and i have yet to hear aiba go flat or sharp. i guess i personally prefer someone who doesn't have perfect vocal quality but is never out of tune over someone whose voice is awesome but is sometimes sintonado.

what am i talking about? they're both awesome singers! and i'm not a vocal expert by anybody's standard. so i'm gonna shut up now. :p

I completely understand what you meant by that though. :) I might be overlooking Nino's live performances so much. But I'm so glad I get to talk about this since I seldom encounter such conversations. ^___^V

Nevertheless it doesn't matter that much anyway, since they're both in our top 3s and whatnot. :D
